Social Networking

One of the challenges in online learning is the lack of face to face contact and interaction. (Cite)

Mobile devices with videoconferencing capabilities are being adopted by consumers all around the world, and replacing desktop and laptop computers. (Cite)

We will explore and use FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Skype and PalTalk services to support learning and community interactions and to mediate the challenges of online Face-to-Face interaction in eLearning environments.

A self-directed learning method is used as the foundation of this instructional strategy. Similar to Fliped-Classrom instruction, learners view the learning objective content (Lesson Module) and then answer questions about the areas of the lesson that are not clear to them. Resources are provided to assist students in solidifying learning concepts. Materials are also available to guide student practice.

If a students reviews the lesson objectives and video lesson, and needs assistance with the learning objective, the student may contact a peer learner, (members of the same level), higher level members or an instructor to assist with learning challenges.

GitShed instructors use mobile devices and videoconferencing technologies to:

  • Help with learning issues by viewing and answering student questions.
  • Help students with learning issues
  • Teach small and large online lessons.
