The Sparge used Facebook Messenger to contact me Saturday, earning his “Lesson 3, Badge”. Our community is setup to use Google Hangouts, but we also use Skype, Facebook, WhatsApp and just about whatever service that works for you. Congratulations Sparge, your Badge has been awarded!!! šŸ™‚

  • Nice Guitars Sparge! Congratulations on completing assignment 1! Your Badge has been assigned. On to lesson 2. šŸ™‚

I want to post my comments regarding the lesson. Overall, the videos and learning videos were well suited for beginners. I am a different kind of learner. I do not read music. I can tune my guitar to match the sound of the song (mostly 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music) and able to play along. I learned to sing in a choir, both church and school Glee…Read more

      • I love the personal touch of your post. You have a gift that others would love to develop, I know I would. Your example of working on your music and sports at the same time reminds me of informal learning. Some call it a form of multitasking or learning through distractions. I do this when I’m practicing new chords while watching TV. I form the…Read more

The basic parts to my guitar.

      Thanks for watching.

      • Nice basic description; I can show this to my elementary school students very quickly rather than telling them repeatedly what the parts are…..lol, they can watch you.

I am posting the different parts of my guitar.

      Enjoy!

      • String names, Fingers, D and G Chords, all in under two minutes! Nice work Macplyr!!! šŸ™‚

      • I am unfamiliar with G tuning. I’d like to see that. I have heard of Drop D tuning for bass (I do not really use it though).

        • Hi Lamar, the tuning is D G D G B D. The sound this makes will speak to you in ways you never thought could happen.

There have been a few questions about contact information from “Lesson 1.3”. How do you request a videoconference? Here are your options:

To make a video request, you can:

      Post in the community
      Send an email to: admin@gitshed.com
Start a Hangout and send an invite to: gitshed@gmail.com
or Call the phone number shared in private chat

I just had a Google Hangout with BizArt. Great conversation and information gathering from them. Enjoyed our talk!

      • That’s it “Lesson 1.3 Assignment complete! Your Badge and survey are on their way! šŸ™‚

      Check out this video>

      Hope it works. šŸ™‚

      • WoW!!! Macplyr that sounds GREAT! 🙂 Right Know you are in two groups, Beginners and Players. I’m inspired by the fact that you can already play but have joined the community to learn more! 🙂

    • In 1.2 I would love to have seen how android devices worked with iRig specifically. I got the apple products were infused or implemented. Demos of every kind would be helpful

    • in lesson 1.4 I wanted to be sure of what was exactly asked regarding the recording our progress. Was there a request to make a video recording of all of the sample exercises? I could see choosing one to three of them as a wise option

      • If you post yourself sitting, holding and naming the parts of the guitar that get’s you your lesson badge. If you don’t have a YouTube Channel, send me the video and I will convert it to a link that you can add to your post. šŸ™‚

      • Hi Lamar, I had the same kind of questions. Just talked to BizArtMusic and they suggested that I post a video saying how much some of the resources have helped me. I know that a couple of the video resources were helpful. Hope this helped.

I am loading my video for comments. Ok, tried to load my video, but had some issues. The media button did not recognize my video in mp4.

    • Hey. Just watched the videos for lesson 2. I downloaded the garage band, pro metronome and guitar tuna. They all seem to be adequate. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use them yet. But the videos included in the lesson were quite informative. I have realized that this will take a lot more commitment on my part, which I’m hoping to give it…Read more

Lamar posted his “Basic Guitar Lesson 1, Assignment” on the GitShed Facebook Page and has been awarded his lesson completion “Badge”!

    • I just looked into the HangOuts option. I can see how to connect, yet for recording the directions could be more clear. Please share how to make a video request. I believe I misread the commentary on that.

      • I just posted about this. I
just wanted to add that otherwise, using hangouts person to person could be quite effective

        • Yes! Hangouts can be very effective! It has some nice tools, such as chat, file sharing, group videoconference with I think up to 8 people and more. You can use the invite function to email others and ask them to join. I like that it opens in a separate window or screen on my tablet and I can switch back and fourth between the Hangout and the…Read more
