I’m looking at different types of guitars. Many years ago I had a 12 string made by Penco, fine Japanese manufacturer of guitars and steel shelving units. The nice thing about a 12 string is that it is always out of tune, somewhere, so it is a natural for slack key :=) Now, I’m interested in dobros and slide guitar.

Aloha!
I am a graduate student and would like to create a guitar to support my research site.
I have an image of a body that looks like a Gibson SG and a Les Paul.
I’d like plans for this body with no […]

Greetings!!! Here is a cool thing that happened to me a few days ago. I was showing my 6 year old niece and my 4 year old nephew lesson 2. They were both completely enthralled. I then showed them how the different strings sound when changing the fret. They were completely mesmerized by this. I will probably look at getting her a small guitar…Read more

Nice start Macy! Here are a few suggestion: 1. Use a guitar strap so that you don’t have to hold and play the guitar at the same time. A strap will allow your hands more range of motion. 2. Look at the video and pay close attention to your wrist. At times your wrist is flat and at times it is in the correct curled position. When you push your…Read more

I bought my first-ever musical instrument in 2003 when I was 21, an acoustic guitar. A Gibson Epiphone. I was on a path to try new things and learning to play music was one of them! At this age, I developed a love for alternative music, namely, indie rock and roll. I wanted to try and play some of my favorite songs from some of my favorite…Read more

Last night was my first shot at lesson 2. My shoulder, and wrist hurt. I was told to take it easy as it might take time for the muscles to get acclimated and they were right. We’ll keep plugging away.

Working on lesson one. I had bought a guitar years ago but never opened it. Lesson 1 had an assignment telling me to take my guitar to a music store to have it checked out. I have a buddy who played on my tennis team for years who is part owner of a music store. Took my guitar to him to look it over. He told me that as it was, the guitar…Read more
